Sorting through boxes of memorabilia, I stumbled upon an old pocket watch, the only item returned to my grandmother through the International Red Cross from the trenches of WWI where her husband died at the Battle of the Somme. In 1975 my own husband was stuck in conflict torn Angola. The ICRC made sure that he was able to leave safely. Visiting the Museum of the ICRC in Geneva brought all of this back to my mind. I combined photos taken at the Museum with images and writings of my own as well as historical and religious texts to create a visual tribute to this wonderful Federation. We are all hoping for a time without war and conflicts; until then the "Organization of the International Red Cross, Red Crescent and Red Crystal" deserves our greatest respect and admiration.
Proceeds of this book will be donated in part to the ICRC.
