Qiang Jin is senior coordinating cataloger, NACO coordinator, and associate professor of library administration at the University of Illinois, Urbana- Champaign Library. The major theme of her research is to rethink the conceptual foundations to create more effective and efficient cataloging rules for authority control. She presents research papers to share her work with scholars and practitioners at the American Library Association Conferences. Her published works have appeared in journals such as Information Technology and Libraries and Library Collections, Acquisitions and Technical Services. As an active member of the American Library Association, she has held several leadership positions. Currently, she serves as the chair of the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services (ALCTS) Cataloging and Metadata Management Section (CaMMS) Nominating Committee and a member of ALCTS Nominating Committee. From 2008 to 2011, she was chairelect, chair, and past-chair of the ALCTS CaMMS Executive Committee. Prior to that, she was chair of the ALCTS CaMMS Subject Analysis Committee and its Subcommittee on FAST. She was the chair of LITA/ALCTS CaMMS Authority Control in the Online Environment Interest Group from 2003 to 2004.
