Painter, draughtsman and sculptor Fernando Botero (Medellín, Colombia, 1932) is the best known of Latin American artists at work today. "Fernando Botero: A Celebration" is biggest anthological exhibition of his career, with a hundred or so works from the last 65 years. An extended version has been shown first at one of Mexico's premier fine arts showcases, the Palacio de Bellas Artes and in October 2012 and a reduced version will be shown in Museo de Bellas Artes of Bilbao (Spain), which this book will show. Botero has been directly involved in the organization of this latest exhibition, which will give a complete, theme-based overview of his career. Most of the works included in the show come from his private collection. Vigorous compositions, opulent forms and exuberant colours celebrate the very personal vision of Botero's painting.
