Secondary schools play a vital role in the provision of opportunities to learn about and access health services and the Sex Education Forum has been working with schools to create information and share practice about the provision of on-site sexual health services for several years. As services in schools have become increasingly widespread, professionals have raised questions about the practicalities of setting up good quality provision in the school setting. This publication is in response to requests for both practical and strategic support in setting up such services. Based on a series of workshops, the resource pack includes case studies, examples of good practice, a range of service models and invaluable tips from practitioners who have experience of setting up school based services. It will support professionals to: explain to stakeholders why addressing sexual health issues in schools is important understand the range of service models and strategic approaches to service development being used around the country explore practical considerations, from the best time to run a service, to the details of protecting confidentiality develop tools for monitoring and evaluating to ensure that services meet the needs of young people.
