During the Holocaust, thousands of Jews from Germany, Austria, Czechoslovakia, and later Hungary were transported to Latvia, where they were concentrated in the Riga Ghetto and in extermination camps--joining the thousands of Latvian Jews who were already interned there.
Collected in this volume are the remembrances of the survivors of the Latvian Holocaust. It provides the reader with the human responses of those who witnessed the atrocities, from those whose fate enabled them to survive and later lead fulfilling lives, to those broken by the experience.
