A chance meeting draws the shady Otsuki into what can only be described as a nightmare: led off to the home of a master calligrapher, he is subjected to a bizarre pornographic movie alternating shots of a teenage girl with close-ups of insects. Otsuki is then introduced to the calligrapher's attractive granddaughter, the star of the movie, and asked to film the remainder of the movie himself. Whether it's a metaphysical thriller, a surreal noir, or perhaps even a "moral tale" gone wrong, Triangle is above all an unsettling peek behind the curtain into the dark and irrational reality underneath a city's streets.
