Having worked alongside great chefs including Pierre Koffmann, Nico Ladenis, Marco Pierre White and Ferran Adria, Jason Atherton joined the Gordon Ramsay Group in 2001 as the executive chef for Verre in Dubai. By 2005 he was at the helm of Maze in London, launching what would be the most successful brand in the group. In 2011 Jason opened his own flagship restaurant, Pollen Street Social, which won a Michelin star within six months. Deemed London's Best Fine Dining restaurant by the Time Out Eating & Drinking Awards 2011, Pollen Street Social also won New Restaurant of the Year at the Craft Guild of Chefs Awards 2012 and was ranked sixth in The Good Food Guide's Top 50 Restaurants 2013.
Jason's restaurants include Pollen Street Social, Little Social, Social Eating House and Berners Tavern in London, Table No. 1 and The Commune Social in Shanghai, Esquina, Pollen, and Keong Saik Snacks in Singapore and 22 Ships in Hong Kong. Next to open is City Social in London (May 2014) followed by restaurants in Hong Kong (June 2014), Dubai (September 2014), Singapore (2014), New York (March 2015), and Sydney (April 2015).
Jason's recipes and articles have appeared widely in magazines and newspapers including: the Guardian, Sunday Times, Observer Food Monthly, Waitrose Food Illustrated, and Caterer and Hotelkeeper. Additionally, he demonstrates regularly on food shows in the UK and abroad. He is a regular guest on Saturday Kitchen and Market Kitchen. June 2008 saw Jason win the third series of BBC2's Great British Menu and in 2009 and 2010 Jason returned to the series as host. In 2014 Jason co-hosts with Lorraine Pascale for Sky Living's flagship series My Kitchen Rules.
