In the fall of 2016, the pastoral staff of New Life City met to discuss direction for the days ahead as our church, our nation, and our world entered a distinct season of transition. Pastor Alan Hawkins shared the burden of his heart for the church to be a people who could understand the times and walk in the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. He then went on to share his vision for the development of a 6-month prayer initiative.
This 40-day devotional is among the fruit of that initiative. Praying Through Word and Spirit contains prayers recorded in scripture from prophets, kings, apostles, and everyday people of faith. Accompanying each daily prayer is a brief description of the prayer's context as well as a daily devotional applying the prayer to the things facing the church today.
