Bread without Sorrow, JOHN HODGEN's second volume of poetry, earned him the Balcones Poetry Prize in 2002. He has been the recipient of numerous other awards, including the 2005 Foley Poetry Prize, the 2005 Ruth Stone Poetry Prize, the Grolier Prize, an Arvon Foundation Award, the Yankee Magazine Award for Poetry, and the 2000 Massachusetts Cultural Commission Artist Foundation Grant in Poetry. His first collection, In My Father's House, won the 1993 Bluestem Award and was published by Emporia State University's Bluestem Press. A longtime resident of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, Hodgen teaches English and creative writing and Assumption College, from which he holds an MA, and at Mount Wachusett Community College. |
