Have you ever sat in the pews of your church, observed an unfavorable or seemingly insensitive response to a situation, and asked the question, "Why did they do that?!" Did the situation somehow rub you the wrong way and leave you sad, angry or in shock? After you asked the question, did you ever seek an answer? It’s so easy for us to blame it on "them," isn’t it?
In my many years of ministry experience, I’ve asked myself this question more than I would like to admit. What I discovered is that as a casual visitor it would be okay for me to ask this question. As a member or ministry leader, I should know the answer.
