Updated JUNE 2017. NB: Order directly from Amazon or Strawberry Jam Books to ensure you receive this updated version. The Friendship Adventure is a project for children aged seven to eleven in schools or children's groups. It links stories and story themes with fun games, activities and project ideas to help children develop understanding and acceptance of differences in people and people's lives. Now revised (June 2017) the book has twelve optional fun, black and white illustrated activity sheets at the end of the book for use with the project, suited to various ages.
The Friendship Adventure's aims are to help all children:
*develop understanding and acceptance of themselves as unique individuals;
*to value the diversity of people;
*to explore and develop the qualities of kindness, friendship and understanding - enhancing their own and others' sense of self-esteem and confidence, (developing friendship and social skills in general);
*develop values and behaviours that reduce the likelihood of bullying, exclusion of others and discriminatory views.
The Friendship Adventure teaches awareness and acceptance of differences and uniqueness in people in groups, school, communities and the wider world-with the intention that children will carry values of kindness, appreciation and understanding forward into their adult lives.
The stories to use with this programme are available to read online in digital format on Strawberry Jam Books website- or can be purchased as paperbacks. See the Strawberry Jam Books website for further resources and details.

Note that, while the introduction mentions some UK or English primary school curriculum guidance and aims, these are mentioned only to acknowledge that the values promoted by The Friendship Adventure are already a part of any school/children's group policy. The project, in support of this, is for use in any school or children's group anywhere.
