Rabbi Gilbert S. Rosenthal is executive director of the National Council of Synagogues. He served as a pulpit rabbi for thirty-three years and as executive vice president of The New York Board of Rabbis for ten years. He is the author and editor of eleven books including Contemporary Judaism and The Many Faces of Judaism.
