Kofi's Mom is one of several books commissioned and published by Family Bridge Network, a nonprofit organization, under their Children Left Behind program. Family Bridge Network's goal is to advocate for and provide support to people - families, spouses, children - anyone who is affected by the loss of a family member through death, incarceration, deployment, rehab, foster care or other causes. Children Left Behind has published this book for children ages 3 - 6 years. Many children have a difficult time coming to terms with what has happened or in understanding it and often parents do not truthfully tell the child what has happened. Children can feel that what has happened is their fault. They may not want to talk about it and will often have difficulty expressing their feelings. Written by Dr. Richard W. Dyches, Ph.D., Kofi's Mom is a story about Kofi whose mother is sent to prison. It explores his feelings of loss and confusion. Through friends at school, Kofi begins to talk about his mom and to look forward to her return. For more informationa about Family Bridge Network, this book, or to order other books, contact us at:
