For years, the problem of child labour has been overwhelming, its solution hopeless. Yet recently, there is a worldwide perception that at least the most unacceptable forms of child labour must be and can be eradicated within a short time frame. This would set in motion an irreversible process leading to the total elimination of all forms of child labour. In order to visualize and move towards this ultimate goal, it is important to collect, assess and act upon child labour statistics. This report aims at setting standards of good practice on the collection, compilation and analysis of national child labour statistics, guiding countries to update their existing statistical system in this field or to establish a new one where necessary.
