David Ross is the compiler of Awa an Bile Yer Heid: Scottish Curses and Insults, From Scenes Like These - Scottish Anecdotes and Episodes, and a definitive book of Scottish quotations. He was born and brought up in Dingwall, lives near Hereford and spends much of his time in Edinburgh.
